Shoulder Pain

(Last Updated On: October 4, 2017)

Shoulder pain is something that is commonly treated by our osteopaths here in Bath. It is often caused by long period of sitting at a desk, driving or typing on a computer. All these activities can be made worse if done with a poor posture. Both weekend sports men and women all the way up to elite athletes may also suffer for shoulder and arm pain.

Most shoulder pain is not serious and comes from the muscles, tendon and bursae which surround the joint. There may be inflammation and pain associated with most shoulder problems.

The most common shoulder problems are:
• Frozen Shoulder / Adhesive Capsulitis
• Sub Acromial Impingement Syndromes
• Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
• Arthritis
• Labral Tears
• Rupture of the Biceps Tendon

As with all osteopathic treatments at The London Road Clinic, there will be a thorough case history taken, followed by a examination of the shoulder and associated muscles and joints. The diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed and treatment on the shoulder undertaken. If further tests are necessary, then these will be requested either directly through the clinic or via your GP. Along with the hands-on treatment, there will be a short programme of stretch exercises given in order to maintain the benefits of the treatment.

Don’t forget that The London Road Clinic is open on weekends too so give us a ring on 01225 282336.
